Roy Oswalt to New York?

According to Brian Lewis from the New York Post, Houston Astros ace Roy Oswalt would be open to a reunion with old pal Andy Pettitte in pinstripes.

This move would certainly make sense for Roy Oswalt, who is desperate to join a winning organization. The move would not make much sense for the Yankees for a number of reasons.

(1) The Yankees rotation has been excellent to say the least this season.

(2) The emergence of Phil Hughes allows Joe Girardi the luxury of being able to count on a playoff rotation of CC, AJ, Andy, and Phil.

(3) Javier Vazquez has been effective his couple of starts, and may be close to regaining his old NL form.

(4) Houston Astros owner Drayton McLane may not be willing to part with Roy Oswalt unless a "worthy" package of prospects is acquired. (aka Montero or Romine)

The Yankees are better off holding onto their prospects, unless they can acquire some helpful talent by flexing their financial muscle.
